“God Is Love”, 1 John 4:8

The Word tells us  “God is Love.”  (1 John 4:8)

Webster defines ‘Love’ in this way:  ” A strong ‘affection’ or ‘liking’ for someone or something.”  Webster defines ‘affection’ as “to have a fond or tender feeling” . Webster defines ‘Like’ in this way: “To enjoy.  To be pleased with”.  So God has a fondness, and tender feeling for us.  He enjoys us, and is pleased with us as a child of His – no matter what.
The enemy tries to make us think that God does not love or like us if we do not live a certain way, or do certain things, or talk a certain way.  That He is always looking for something to ‘smack us’ down about.  I have seen and heard people treat their children this way.  Always looking for something to correct them about or over, rather than something to celebrate.   I have seen and heard people treat their friends this way.  If their ‘friends’ disagree, or say or do something they do not like,  they ‘de-friend’ them.
No doubt we have done many things that displease God, and could make Him pull away from us, and certainly not like our ‘actions’.  But that is not what the Word says about our God of Love, and His unconditional love for us.  The Word says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) God had already shown man by the Law given through Moses that we could not be good enough on our own.  But because of His Grace, and Mercy, our Heavenly Father is not asking us for perfection on our own.  He has provided our perfection through faith in Christ Jesus, His One and Only Son. (Hebrews 10:14)  He simply asks us to believe He has done this for us, and to ask His Son into our lives.  Father then sees us as He sees Jesus.  Perfect in every way.  He says, “This is my beloved child in whom I am well pleased.”
Let us ask Him to fill us with His presence.  He will. We shall then be one with Him.  His Holy Spirit will flow from us in the form of love, and joy, and peace, and patience, and kindness, and goodness, and faithfulness, and gentleness, and self control even while He is in the process of “making us holy” in our soul and body – that beautiful process called ‘sanctification’.   That is unconditional Love.  That is Grace.  That is God in us. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Have a wonderful day, God’s Beloveds.  May you be blessed in every way through Christ Jesus, our Lord and Savior.  He loves you So.
