Happy Valentine’s Day

Hello Loves,

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!  Hope you had a very nice celebration of ‘Love’ Day, and that you took care of your Sweetheart in a loving way.
I dropped by a ‘big box’ store on the way in from work today to pick up a couple of things, and the signs of “love” were on display everywhere.  Flowers were in several locations, boxes of chocolates abounded, cute stuffed animals were almost saying “Take me home.”, – it was amazing.  Most of the Shoppers were Guys walking around with a blank look on their face as if to say, “What should I get?’
I have to admit I am usually one of those Guys.  Not this time because I am out of town, and bought stuff Saturday -to be opened today -when you could still smell the paint and ink on the cards.  My daughter finally had to tell me to quit buying stuffed animals for her when she hit 40 or I would probably still be doing that.
Nevertheless, I love Valentine’s Day.  Maybe it is because we celebrate the tradition of a Priest that was killed because he was doing the right thing for love.  Maybe it is because it is really about Love, and the Word says, “God is Love.  This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him.  This is love; not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” 1 John 4:8-10)  Maybe it is because I love to see the smiles on the faces of those I am blessed to have in my life when I say “I love you, my Valentine”, and then hear them say it back.  Or maybe it is a little of all of these things.
Whatever the reason, it reminds me of the song, “Why can’t every day be like Christmas”?
