Happy Mother’s Day to our Mother’s!!!

“Honor thy Father, and thy Mother is a Holy Command in the original 10 Commandments.  The Lord didn’t say you ‘should’ honor your Father and your Mother,  He said,”Honor your Father and your Mother.”  The other 10 Commandments are about what we “shall not” do.  This one tells us what “we shall” do that brings a promise.

This commandment is quoted in the original 10 Commandments, in several other places in the Old Testament and New Testament, and in three of the Gospels. In the fourth, the Gospel of John, the last thing recorded that Jesus did before He died on the cross for us was to make sure His Mother was taken care of. (John 19: 25 to 27)
Jesus honored His Mother. So it should be for each of us.  God chose this person to give us life, and they should be honored as the partner of God they are.  We would not be here without them, and most of us learned what unconditional love is all about from the actions of our Mom.  Sadly that is not the case 100% of the time, but for the most part that is as natural as breathing for them. Nothing can separate us from God’s love, and that is the case almost always with a Mother’s love for her child.  There is a bond between a Mother, and her child that is holy – truly God given.  We have seen and heard of things that could only happen through the grace and love and power of God.  Mothers have been known to literally lift a car off their child, to fight an animal or dangerous person over them, to give their child the last bite of food in their possession, and the list goes on.  This is LOVE.  God is LOVE.  God creates Life, and provides for it.  A Mother is given the privilege to create Life in her body, and then take care of that life she has brought into the world.  God even gives her body the ability to provide what is needed to the newborn child.  The Mother is indeed a very special Creation of God, and is not always the person who brought the child into the world, but is the Mother, the Mom, nevertheless.
Every Mother’s Day, I love to share this beautiful piece of Love honoring all Moms. The author of this is unknown, but it goes: “A baby asked God, ‘They tell me You are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?’ God said, “Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you.”  The child further inquired, “But tell me, here in heaven I don’t have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy.”  God said, “Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you.  And you will feel your angel’s love and be very happy.”   “And what am I going to do when I want to talk to You?”  God said, “Your angel will place your hands together and teach you how to pray.  I will always hear you.”  “Who will protect me?” the child asked.  “Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life.”, God said.  At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child asked, “Father, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angel’s name.”  God said, “You will simply call her, Mom.”
Happy Mother’s Day, to all of you Moms and  Mother’s – in whatever way that God has called you to be. Female, or male, natural birth or adoption.   Thank you for all you do every day for the one you are raising, or providing care for.  May you be honored.   As the Word says in Proverbs 31:28, “Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.”  May you be blessed and honored in all ways, and in all things as your loved ones lift you up in Love, today and every day.?
