“Happy Resurrection Day.” Rev 1:17-18

Happy Resurrection Day, my Brothers and Sisters.  Happy Easter.

Though we cannot assemble to worship due to the coronavirus, those who believe will still celebrate somewhere today, and give praise to our Lord of Love. This was the day life was changed for Mankind.  This was the day the New Covenant of Grace was brought to life.   Jesus is Grace.  He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. He is our unmerited Love. He lives.
As Jesus traveled with His Disciples, and taught them about the Law, and the way it had been taken over by man, He taught about Grace – who He is. The Word says in (John 1:14,) “He came from the Father, full of Grace, and Truth.”  He taught that He is truth.  He taught that He is Grace.  But the Jews rejected grace and refused the truth of it  This is why they wanted to kill Him. Jesus knew that, and so He tried to tell His Disciples what was to happen.  In (Mark 9: 31-32,) we see these words:  “He said to His disciples, ‘The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men. They will kill Him, and after three days He will rise.’  But they did not understand what He meant and were afraid to ask Him about it.”
What DID He mean about it?  Why Was there a Resurrection?  There were reasons in Heaven, and on Earth.  There were reasons in Spirit, and Soul, and Body.  Jesus was destined to Rule, and to spend time on the throne of Grace until this world as we know it is changed. Before He went back to Heaven to assume that role, He was to ensure there was no doubt as to who He is.  He did that by showing Himself dying on a cross for our sins providing grace for all who will believe in Him.  He showed Himself staying in a grave for three days, and then being given a new body to walk out in.  He worked with His Disciples 40 more days after the resurrection before He left them to carry on.  John says, “Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.  (John 21:25.)  And then He went to sit at the right hand of our Abba Father on the Throne of Grace.
When John encountered Jesus later as John was brought up from the Island of Patmos on the Lord’s Day in the Spirit, Jesus told John,  “I am the first and the last, I am the living One; I was dead and behold I am alive forever and ever.  And I hold the keys of death and hades.” (Revelation 1:17-18)  We know what He did for us, what happened during the time of death on the cross as Father put upon Him our sins, and after that as detailed in (Ephesians 4:8-10) as He took the keys and set the captives free from the depths and led them back to Heaven.  Death could not hold Him.  It is Love, and Grace, and Truth that empowers Him.  So it is for us. He LIVES as do we in Him. Happy Resurrection Day!!!?
