“Her children arise and call her blessed”, Proverbs 31:28

Happy Mother’s Day to all of our Mothers – Mothers of the flesh, and Mothers of the heart.  The Word declares in the 10 Commandments, and in many many other places  that we should ‘honor our Mother’ – for there is no other like her.   It says in Proverbs 1:8, “Do not forsake your Mother’s teaching” – for wisdom flows from her mouth, and from her ways.

Today we honor this lady for she is worthy to be praised.  I realize there are situations that have a man in the position of Mom, and how grateful I am for them if that is necessary, so please know that you are included when I say Mother, or Mom, or her, if that is the case.  But the Word calls Mother her, and thus we quote: “Her children arise and call her blessed” because she brings blessings into lives through her unconditional, uncompromising love.  There is no love like a Mother’s love.  It is God given.  It is uniquely designed by the Father, honored by Jesus as He made sure His Mother was taken care of at the cross, and that love flows through the Holy Spirit to each of us.
For several years I have included a writing in the Mother’s Day Message that beautifully describes a Mother’s love.  The Author is unknown, and it goes like this:
“A baby asked God, ‘They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless.?’  God said, ‘Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you.’  The child further inquired, ‘But tell me, here in heaven I don’t have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy.’  God said, ‘Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you.  And you will feel your angel’s love and be very happy.’  Again the child asked, ‘And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don’t know the language?’  God said, ‘Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak.’  The child asked, ‘And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?’  God said, ‘Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray.’  ‘Who will protect me?’ the child asked.  God said, ‘Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life.’  ‘But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore.’  God said, ‘Your angel will always talk to you about Me and will teach you how to come back to Me, even though I will always be next to you.’   At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, ‘God, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angel’s name.’ God said, ‘You will simply call her Mom.’
So again, Happy Mother’s Day to all of our Moms.  Thank you for all that you have done, for all that you do now, and for all that you will do.  Your love and desire for good things for your children is never ending. We are blessed by you.  May you be blessed as we Honor you.
