“His Word is alive and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword.” Hebrews 4:12

As Russia continues to bring “hell on earth” to Ukraine, we are deeply saddened by all that is happening to the millions of people affected by this war. Multitudes of Christians and non-Christians alike are being torn away from their homes. The innocent lives they were living just a month ago now shattered by pure evil. Survivors watch their loved ones and countrymen being killed in horrible ways. They watch the destruction of their nation.

Reports fill our news feeds –
“… a large theater hit in the city of Mariupol where hundreds of civilians were sheltering before it was hit by heavy strikes yesterday. Losses are not yet given.”
“Casualties are reported today after debris from a downed missile hit a residential building in Kyiv.”
“… the Russians are inching toward the capital with intensified fighting…”
“President Joe Biden yesterday called Russian President Vladimir Putin a “war criminal” in the harshest condemnation of Putin’s actions from any US official since the war in Ukraine began three weeks ago.”
We do not know how Putin can justify his disregard for the lives of the men, women, and children being sacrificed to achieve this inexplicable lust for the total destruction of Ukraine. Mental illness clearly possesses him now as he seems to care for nothing except Russian expansion and total dominion. This is not just a Ukrainian problem. This is now the entire world’s problem. Sanctions seem to have little impact on the man directly.
And the horror goes on. Our hands feel tied even as this battered country pleads for us to not look away.

What can we do? Engage in every personal sanction we can… The Washington Post released a list today of all American companies still fueling Russia out of their own greed. Don’t participate. Send financial aid if we are able. And PRAY.
Our prayers now must be that our God of Love will use the “Word” to have someone or something touch Putin in such a way that he will stop this onslaught.
The Word says, “For the Word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.” Hebrews 4:12-13.
Take this verse, claim the promise of its might in your prayers, and use it as a weapon in the spiritual war we can join as an ally to the people of Ukraine engaged in the physical war.
The Word of God is ALIVE and POWERFUL. It touches lives in ways we may not even imagine. It is the force our Lord left for us in this world to change things, to bring things about that cannot be explained. No power that men or women hold can touch it. Let us keep our faith in His Word no matter what the circumstances look like.
It is the SHARPEST POWER over ALL things.?
