“Jesus is a Light for revelation to the Gentiles.”

We have celebrated the birth of our Lord and Savior, the Anointed One.  Given birth from a virgin to fulfill the prophecy of Isaiah, in the town of Bethlehem to fulfill the prophecy of Micah, born in a manger to show that God reaches down to the poorest of the poor.   Poor in material things.  Poor in spirit.  To show that no matter what your circumstances are He will lift you up because He came to do so.
The Word says:  “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ , that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich.” (2 Corinthians 8:9)
Rich in Love. Rich in Grace.  Rich in Kindness. Rich in Mercy. Rich in health.  Rich in Peace.  Rich in all things needed as we look to Him.
As we move on from His birth to the following days of the Lord’s infancy, The Word tells us:  “On the eighth day; when it was time to circumcise the child, He was named Jesus, the name the angel had given Him before He was conceived.” (Luke 2:21)   (God told Joseph and Mary to name the child Jesus, because it means: “THE LORD SAVES” )  That is what He came to do. That is what He does.
The Word goes on to say: “When the time came for the purification rites required by the Law of Moses, Joseph and Mary took Him to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord- as it is written in the Law of the Lord , ‘Every firstborn male is to be consecrated to the Lord- and to offer a sacrifice in keeping with what is said in the Law of the Lord: a pair of doves or two young pigeons.’ ” (Luke 2: 22-24)
Joseph and Mary were selected to raise the Lord from a baby to manhood.  He was to be raised under the Law of Moses- the Law of the Lord at that time.  They kept the Law with this dedication, and taught Him the Law to perfection as He grew.  He was the person who fulfilled it completely before Father brought forth the Law of Grace through Him.
While they were in the Temple Jesus was confirmed as the Anointed One by a Prophet named Simeon, and a Prophetess named Anna.  (Luke 25-38)
The Word says, “Simeon (who was filled with the Holy Spirit)  took Him in his arms and praised God, saying: ‘Sovereign Lord, as You have promised, You may now dismiss your servant in peace.  For my eyes have seen your salvation, a light for revelation to the Gentiles and the glory of your people Israel ‘ (Luke 2:29-32)
Another confirmation for Mary and Joseph.  Another confirmation for us.
There may be times when circumstances can appear to have us walking in darkness, and not seeing things working for us.  If that happens let us remember who God sent for us, and to call on Jesus to bring us into the Light.  He is the Light.  He is our salvation for every need.  He brings revelation to the scene.  As we continue to look to Him, it all comes together.
The Word says:  “This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. (1 John 4:9)  Let us live life to the full in His revelation to us.
“Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord.”  (2 Peter 1: 2)   Let us get to know Him deeply, and all that He is.  He is Love.
