Jesus said “Whoever drinks the water I give will never thirst.” John 4:14

As we continue our study of the Gospel of John, we pick up at verse 11, of Chapter 4.  Writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the Apostle writes:

“Sir”, the woman said, “You have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water?  Are you greater than our father Jacob who gave us this well and drank from it himself as did also his sons and his livestock.?”   Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst .  Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”  (John 4: 11-14)
Jesus was talking to a Samaritan woman whom He had gone to meet.  Little did she know that she was speaking to God in Christ Jesus, and that her life would never be the same again.
The Lord had met her at the well of Jacob to be able to use the comparison of external water that must be pulled up from a well or other body of water,to satisfy our flesh, to Living Water that is within that satisfies our spirit that is given by Him.  He could have met her anywhere, but the well, especially this well of Jacob, is what He wanted to teach from.
The Samaritans were looked down upon by the Jews because of things in the past  that we have mentioned that the Jews would not let go of.  The Jews would not even drink from the same cup a Samaritan had used. But regardless of their prejudices, the Samaritans were children of Jacob whom God had called to head a special nation to teach the rest of His children from.  The Jews, and they were all brothers and sisters and members of the same family through their faith – as are we. Though the Jews did not consider them pure and worthy, Jesus was at the well to point out the truths that all should hear.
We are all God’s children.  He has called each of us for a purpose.  None of us are above the other.  We are all created equally.  We all have the same needs.  We all need external water to drink for the well being of our flesh.  We all need the flow of Living Water within that comes from and in Christ Jesus for the well being of our spirit – that spring of water that will well up to eternal life.
Let us hear Him.  Let us never look down on anyone, but rather lift up everyone in prayer, and love and respect.  Everyone has a past.  Everyone has a future.  What these look like only the Lord knows.  May we, as one of His children, just do the right things, for the right reasons.  When and as we do, we shall stay in the lane we are given to run this life in. We shall never thirst.
Have a wonderful day, sweet child of God.  May the Lord of peace Himself give you peace at all times.  You are greatly loved.
