As we continue our study of the Gospel of John, we pick up at verse 14 of Chapter One. Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the Apostle wrote:
“The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1: 14
As we study the four Gospels that the early leaders of the church, under the Leadership of the Holy Spirit, put into the New Testament, it is interesting as to the way each of the primary writers portrayed Jesus. Matthew, writes of Him as the King, and His kingdom here on earth. Mark, writes of Him as the Christ, the Servant of the Lord sent to accomplish a specific work for God. Luke, writes of Him as Christ the Man. Son of Man – Son of God. John, writes of Him as THE WORD – Son of God -Son of Man. Fully God – Fully Man. Jesus Christ in His Deity.
My NIV footnotes tell us “Word, here, is translated from the Greek ‘Logos’. The Greek word Logos means a thought or concept and the expression or utterance of that thought.” John wastes no time in stating what our thought should be about Jesus. Simply this: Jesus is God, (John 1:1) John’s testimony is that he had personally seen that, and declares it to be true. He personally walked with the One and Only begotten Son of God who had become flesh and blood, to perform a task that no one else could. His eyes had seen the grace and truth of God’s love in Jesus.
Our Heavenly Father, loves us very much, and wants to be in fellowship with us. Jesus came from the Father to to tell us and show us the truth of that. God created a beautiful wonderful world for us to enjoy, and fellowship with Him in. Because of a mystery beyond us, evil came into our world, and our father of flesh, Adam, fell into it due to listening and believing the words of others instead of the words of God. His one act plunged mankind into darkness and deceit, and death. Jesus, The Word Himself, came to bring us light and life, (John 1:9), and to do that He had to become flesh. There had to be blood that would flow. One man brought us down: One Man lifts us up.
We shall continue to explore this miracle of Love as we go forth in our study. May you have a wonderful week; blessed with every need met, and with peace that only our God of love can provide. Jesus said, “I came that you might have life, and have it abundantly.” Let us take Him at His Word.
