As we see recorded in the Gospels, Jesus fed thousands with five small barley loaves, and two small fish. I love the faith He exhibited to His Disciples as one of His Disciples, Andrew, told him the 5 small loaves, and 2 small fish was the only food available since they were far out into the country. He said unto His Team, “Have the people sit down.” He intended to feed them with what He had, and this He did. The Word says there was over 5,000 men, plus their families, on that occasion. There may have been over 10,000 total people to feed, but He said, “Have them sit down” and He fed them all to the point they wanted no more. There were baskets of food left over which the Lord had them collect for later because there was so much.
After the supper of miracles that night His Disciples crossed the lake to Capernaum. Jesus was not with them, but they witnessed the Lord walking on the water toward them as they rowed in a boat to cross the lake. As He walked on the waves of water, He showed Himself to be totally above the natural needs of mankind.
After the thousands had been fed they realized Jesus and His Team had left and gone to Capernaum. Many followed them. As they came to Him He said, “Very truly I tell you, you are looking for Me not because you saw the signs I performed, but because you ate the loaves and had your fill. Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life which the Son of Man will give you. For on Him God has placed His seal of approval.” Then they asked Him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?” Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the One He has sent.” (John 6:28-29)
Father God has completed the work of Salvation in and through Christ Jesus and with everything He did for us. In Christ He has sent us the True Bread on which to live and live abundantly. A blessed and abundant life is ours as we Believe in the One our Father God of Love has sent. The Bible is full of the promises that are ours as we Believe and Receive into our hearts the True Gift of Jesus our Messiah. Let us live the Abundant Life of Love in that truth. When time permits, look up Deuteronomy 28:1-14 to see a vast list of those promises.
