“Love must be sincere.” Romans 12: 9

As we continue our study of Paul’s letter to the Romans, he is telling them through the power of the Holy Spirit who, and what they have in their being. He is telling them how to live in victory through the Holy Spirit, and the given gifts from our Holy Father. As we learn these truths, we are covering one of the most important facts in Christianity. .

He is telling them about the “gifts” the Lord gives us to use to build the Church. He will use it to bring a Team of Believers in Jesus Christ together that will touch the world.

Every believer is given a gift, or gifts. Every believer is called, and asked to use the gift they are given because it is needed. If it was not needed, it would not be given. If we do not use our gift, our part will have to be taken up by someone else. As in all things, but especially in spiritual gifts, each person is to use their gift – their talent as needed, and at every opportunity-.a truth that is very important.

As he continued his letter, Paul said, “Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil, cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in Love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in Zeal, but keep your spiritual force serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.” (Romans 12: 9-13.)

When we talk about “Love must be sincere”, most of us must admit we have learned to pretend to love others. To speak kindly, avoid hurting feelings, and appear to take a sincere interest in them. We may take an interest in their personal problems, and help them with projects when they are out of time, or even sometimes help them with money when we can. But, if these things are not done sincerely, and in love, we may find them being done with no long term value. Let us pray for wisdom always in what we are doing for others. We must sincerely expect nothing in return except the joy of giving. If something is offered in return, and we are shown by the Lord it is appropriate to receive it back , let us be prepared to put it someplace where we can get to it again when the next need comes to us. If it is given – not loaned – it is given. It is a gift. It is no longer ours. Let us give it to the Lord, again – whatever it may be. He will use it where He sees it is needed.

We shall continue our discussion of “gifts”, as we move through the Letter.

Have a wonderful week, Beloveds of God. Work on using your “gifts” with open transparency for you, but not others. Let there be no question in your mind or heart as to what you have been given, and how you are to use it. Always remember it is for the one receiving, not for us to boast about. Many blessings will come to you as you do. You are greatly loved.
