“But Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?” John 14:22

As we continue our study of John 14, we are given Words of life that will serve us forever. Jesus said, “On that day, you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in Me, and I am in you.” When we realize this truth, and live in it because we have accepted the Lord’s request to enter into our life… to dwell within us if you will… then we can bring forth that new power, to become a creation of God designed to impact and change the world. We realize we are not a “normal” person anymore. We are an amazing person carrying the Holy Father, Son, and Spirit within us.

From that point on, we cannot live a truly “normal” life again. Because we become a child of God that “grows up” to touch lives in a magnificent way. You may think ‘I don’t touch lives in magnificent ways.’ Oh, but you do. Every single person we encounter from the cashier at H.E.B. to the waiter in the restaurant to the spouse and children or even animals in our home are beings we are “touching” and “shaping” with every word and action that comes forth from us.

It’s why Jesus came to show us how to do that very thing. How to “touch” people with our words and actions. If you think about it, Jesus didn’t have a megachurch ministry while He lived among us. His ministry was low key and reserved for, first, those right in front of Him and, of course, anyone beyond that who cared to listen and receive His message of love.

Judas (not Iscariot) once asked, ‘But Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?’ Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves Me will obey My teaching. My Father will love them, and We will come to them and make our home with them. Anyone who does not love Me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father, who sent Me.”

Since the disciples were still expecting Jesus to make a big political and spiritual move in establishing an earthly kingdom by overthrowing Rome, they found it hard to understand why He did not tell the world at large that He was the Messiah. But Jesus knew not everyone would receive His message – then or ever. He also knew the indwelling of the Trinity within the chosen would be evidence of love that might speak louder than proclamations of His divinity. He was looking at the end game. Trying to show His disciples the power they had to change lives within themselves. Besides that, I think Jesus may have wanted to drive the point home that He saves the deepest revelations, intimacy, of Himself for those who truly love Him, and trust His Word. For those who truly seek to be in relationship with Him. And God.

Let us completely love and trust His Word and live each day in it to the best of our ability.

The media says of Ukraine today, “With more than four months into the Russian invasion, the war has evolved into a battle of inches with no end in sight.” Thousands of people, both Ukraine and Russian, have lost their lives with millions of people losing their home and country. Let us continue to pray earnestly for an end to this madness – may it come quickly in some way for the good of all.

Blessings and Love upon each of you, as you walk in the Love of our Lord, and continue to bring that Love to All in the world with deed and Word. He is needed by All.💚
