Do not say, “I’ll pay you back for this wrong!” Proverbs 20:22

Human nature has a ‘knee jerk’ reaction if someone hurts us.  It is “I will get you for that.!”  They hurt us – we want to hurt them.

However, The Word says, “Do not say I’ll pay you back for this wrong!  Wait for the Lord and He will deliver you.”  Proverbs 20:22
Easier said than done.  It is very hard to hold back words and action that will inflict pain on others, when we are in pain caused by them, but this is what we are asked to do.
The Lord does not want us to hurt each other.  He wants us to Love one another.  He understands when we are hurting, He understands when someone does us a wrong; and He will comfort us and deliver us if we give Him the room, and time to do so.  He said, “Wait for me to handle it.”  Waiting is not what we have in mind when we are slapped by someone.  But, as Paul wrote under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, ” Do not repay anyone evil for evil.  Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody.  If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge my friends, but leave room for God”s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay”, says The Lord.” Romans 12:17-19
We are His, and we can count on Him to take care of us, and show us the right way, for the right result.
I know a Lady who was wronged greatly by an Employer.  He did some things, and said some things that were not true that hurt her deeply.  But, even though hurting, she went on with her head up.  She focused on the good things that were in her life, and prayed for this person that had hurt her.  It was hard to pray for him, but she did. She prayed for his salvation.
Later on, this person came to her, and said, “I am SO sorry for what I did.  I will do anything I can to make it up to you.”  Through a set of circumstances, this person had come to know the Lord.  Mmmm.   He was awakened one night by the Lord, and they had a little “come to Jesus meeting.”  After that, this person went to this Lady, and begged her to forgive him.  Begged.  He went to everybody he had lied to about her, and set the record straight.  Every time he sees her, he tells her how much he cares for her.
The net result is a restored relationship, and a bond that was put in place that if she had tried to hurt him back could not have been possible.  She stepped back.  She went on.  She waited.  She trusted the Lord.  She in turn has reached a new level in her spiritual growth that is beautiful to behold, and love is there rather than hate.  She waited on the Lord – He delivered her.
God’s Word is truth.  When He says it, we can absolutely put our Faith in it.  What He says is the way it will be.  Let us trust as we wait on Him.
May we be encouraged, strengthened, and comforted by the Word of The Lord, my Friends.   He IS The Word.
May you prosper, and be in good health even as your souls prosper, God’s Beloveds.
I love you.
