“Face to Face Fellowship brings joy.”

As we continue, and today finish our study of 2 John, we pick up at verse 12.   Writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the Apostle wrote this short but powerful letter affirming that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and that He is Truth, and that His Command is to Love One Another.
The Apostle concludes his letter with these words: “I have much to write to you, but I do not want to use paper and ink.  Instead, I hope to visit you and talk with you face to face, so that our joy may be complete.  The children of your chosen sister send their greetings.”  2 John 12, 13
A letter, or a note bringing Good News is always a joy when received.  John was sending Good News here as to what is ours to have when we walk in truth, and love.  He wrote, “Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Father’s Son, will be with us in truth and love.” (2 John 3)  As he finishes he adds, “I hope to visit you and talk with you face to face, so that our joy may be complete.”   He did not say your joy, or my joy, he said , “Our joy”.  So it is when we Fellowship with those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God. That Jesus is Truth, and Love Personified.  That He lives in us so that we in fact can be Truth and Love Personified to the world in which we live.
John had written in a previous letter, “We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard so that you also may fellowship with us.  And our fellowship is with the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ.(1John 1:3)
Face to face fellowship with those who walk in truth and love, is also with our Abba Father, and our Brother and Savior Christ Jesus through the Holy Spirit.  Yes, and Amen!
We cannot always be face to face, but let us make the effort to do so as we can.  A smile, perhaps a touch of the hand, a good word, and a loving presence always brings joy to the body, soul, and spirit.
Blessings and love upon you, and yours, God’s Beloveds.
