Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good. 1 Peter 3:13

Hello my Brothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus,

As we continue our study of 1 Peter, we pick up at verse 13 of Chapter 3.  Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, Peter writes:
“Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good?  But even if you should suffer for what is right you are blessed.  Do not fear what they fear; do not be frightened.  But in your hearts, set apart Christ as Lord.  Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.  But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.”

1 Peter 3: 13-16
We had seen in verse 12 of this chapter the words of Peter as he was asking the families and the Church body to live in harmony. “For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and His ears are attentive to their prayer; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”
He is saying to us in today’s scripture study that no one can harm us when we do the right thing.  They may try, but it matters not what they do – we are blessed when we handle it right. The Lord will bring shame on those who try.  As Peter had stated in verse 9 of this chapter, “Do not repay evil with evil, or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.”  When we have set apart Christ as Lord in our hearts, and we look to Him, our eyes are on the One who has brought pure love, and undeserved grace and mercy unto and upon us. This is how He wants us to live.  We shall have no fear, as those who do evil.  We shall walk in trust that we are being blessed by Christ Jesus our Lord, even if there is momentary pain. The pain will pass – the blessing will not.
I was privileged to be present when my daughter gave birth to her son.  She suffered, more than she should have, but the result was a beautiful baby boy. There were some good people involved, and some people that did not know what they were doing, but the Lord saw her through. What a blessing came – to her and to all in her life.  So it is in all times, and seasons of our lives.  If our desire is to do good, the Lord will bless.
If we are going through a time of suffering let us remember it is only for a blink of an eye as compared to the time of blessings that will come from it. Let us keep hope and expectation of blessings so clear and obvious that others will see and perhaps ask what the reason is.  When we explain with gentleness and respect that reason is because the One who created all things is creating wonderful things for us that shall come as we journey on, we shall bless our Lord, and He will bless us.
Let us be encouraged by His Word.  Let us walk in the peace He has for us when we make Him Lord of our lives.
May we grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.   May we glorify our Father, and be filled with His Holy Spirit, as we walk in His love.
Blessings and love to you, and yours, my Friends.  You are greatly blessed, highly favored, and deeply loved.
