Happy Thanksgiving! 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

As we celebrate this day of giving thanks, may we be reminded we have much to be thankful for regardless of circumstances.    Some are blessed with abundance – but some with very few tangible things to point to.  Some have all of the money they need for any occasion – but some are faced with the loss of a good job, and good income and not able to pay their bills or to provide what they would like for their family.  Some are happy and healthy – but some are dealing with health issues and with family issues.  Wherever we stand today, let us keep the perspective of the power of giving thanks in all things.

As the Holy Spirit gave the Apostle Paul these words, He gave us the steps to Happy Thanksgiving every day.  He said, ”  1. Rejoice always, 2.pray continually, 3. give thanks in all circumstances;  for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
It is easy to give thanks when everything is beautiful.  It is just so important to remember to give thanks for those blessings, and remember we do not do these things ourselves.  But, sometimes it is difficult for us to rejoice when things do not seem to be going well.  When prayers do not seem to be answered.  When we find ourselves ‘stuck in the mud’ and not able to move because we find ourselves mired down by looking at circumstances as mountains we have to climb.   If we find ourselves there, refer back to step 1., Rejoice. The Psalmist said, “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”  Psalm 118:24  There is no mention of the condition or circumstances we are in.  The Lord has given us this day to live in – to love others in – to be loved by God in- not bemoan, and focus on what we do not have at the moment.
It is a proven fact of science that when we have an ‘attitude of gratitude’ we rise above the circumstances.   When we rejoice because we know we are loved by God, we  pray with expectation.  David wrote in Psalm 5, “In the morning Lord, You hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before You, and wait expectantly.” Psalm 5:3
When we rejoice we will give thanks to our Loving Father, our Loving Savior Christ Jesus, our Loving Holy Spirit in all circumstances.  We know without question that He will work it all for our good as we go forth in His love. “For we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28  Let us look forward to see how this is all going to work out.  “Don’t worry. Just believe.”
Let us celebrate this very special time with thanksgiving, and happiness.  We are so truly blessed to live in this day.  Let us reach out to someone if possible, and spread the Love living in us.
Happy Thanksgiving, God’s Beloveds.  You are greatly blessed, highly favored, and deeply loved.
