“If you remain in Me, and I in you, you will bear much fruit.” John 15:5

We are so blessed to live in a time and place where the Word is available to us and for us. The Gospel of John is a message from our Lord that is wonderfully informative. If you’re following along, we’re in chapter 15, and verse 5.

As you recall, Jesus said, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in Me, and I in you, you will bear much fruit, apart from Me you can do nothing.” John 15:5                        The Lord was saying you can come to Me, and walk with Me a while, but the question is do you “remain in Me?”

“Remaining in Christ” has many wonderful and beautiful definitions. We shall quickly look at 5 things.

(1) ‘Believing that He is God’s Son.’ In 1 John 4:15, the Word says, “If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God.”

(2) ‘Receiving Him as Savior and Lord.” John assures in 1:12-13, “Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God – children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will but born of God.”

(3) ‘Doing what God says‘ as 1 John 3:24 tells us, “The one who keeps God’s commands lives in Him, and He in them. This is how we know that He lives in us: We know it by the Spirit He gave us.”

(4) ‘Continuing to believe the Gospel‘ as is said in 1 John 2:24-25. “As for you, see that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does you also will remain in the Son, and in the Father. And this is what He promised us – eternal life.”

(5) ‘Relating in love to the community of believers‘ as friends. As Christ said, “I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his Master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.” John 15:15

There are those who come to Christ who do not stay. Why, we cannot always say, but this we do know. Jesus said, “I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. If you really know Me, you will know my Father as well. From now on you who do know Him, have seen Him.” John 14:6-7. As Jesus stated we see the Father when we see His love. To imitate Jesus actions is to “remain in Christ” which leads to being a force for GOOD in this life. A fruitful representative of God. Jesus said, “If you remain in Me, and I in you, you will bear much fruit, apart from Me you can do nothing.”

Let us remain in our Lord in truth and in Love. That does not mean we are perfect in Him. It simply means He is perfect in us and, once we truly give ourselves to Him, He never lets us go. We become perfect in HIs Love as we go.

As we continue our prayers for Ukraine, and the Russian war, let us remember the huge nuclear plant, that has been under the control of Russia, has been restored to the grid; however, danger still remains and a disaster beyond anything we can imagine could occur. Let us pray for success for things to be brought fully under control.

God’s Love to each of you. May all things you have need of come to you and yours.💚
