Love covers over a multitude of sins. 1 Peter 4: 8

As we continue our walk through 1 Peter, we pick up at verse 7, of chapter 4.  Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, Peter writes:

“The end of all things is near.  Therefore be clear minded and self controlled so that you can pray.  Above all, love each other deeply because love covers over a multitude of sins.”
1 Peter 4: 7-8
In these two short verses, Peter covers a huge amount of truth as he touches on three subjects.
He sets up the next two points he wants to make by saying, “The end of all things is near.”   All things as we know it today will end, and it could be this day.  The point he is making is this: Be ready.
 Keep short accounts with the Lord, and with our Brothers and Sisters.  If there are things that need to be settled, or made right, or let go, or confessed, or stopped, or started,  do it now.
Because today could be our last day, get things handled that are not the things we need to be thinking about, and that are bothering us greatly. If we are involved in something we should not be, or
 if we have something against someone; something that is so big that it causes us to think about it every day and is so bad that it keeps us from being clear minded – something that causes us to do and say things that we know is separating us from the peace that prayer and fellowship with our Lord brings –  something that takes our mind to a place of anger and resentment so deep and dark that we cannot even pray – something that keeps coming back to our mind over and over, and we keep telling ourselves we are “working through that”; – that something needs to be cleared up.  Today. Give it to the Lord, and let Him own it.  It will not be yours to carry any longer.  If it tries to come back to you through the evil one, tell him to talk to the Lord about it.
  We must never let anything keep us from praying and receiving the true peace that comes from our time in the presence of Love.
The Lord wants us to have love and peace in our hearts everyday.  So whatever the time is that we have , one day or decades, it should be lived as if today is all there is on this journey.  We should and can live every day in victory through the power of Christ Jesus.
  Our life should be lived in loving fellowship with our Lord Jesus, and in the love of our Father God, and in the inspiration, love and power of the Holy Spirit.  Not in bad thoughts, and all that they bring.  Thoughts of wrong relationships; or lust for something we know is wrong; or hate, and resentment; all bring stress and sadness and sickness.  They rob us of the joy of life and all that Christ died for that is ours in Him.
As Paul wrote, “Finally my Brothers and Sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things.  Put these things into practice, and the God of peace will be with you.”  Philippians 4: 8-9  This kind of thinking will keep us clear minded, self controlled, and in a state of prayer and peace, and love at all times.  This kind of thinking keeps us free the bondage of anger and resentment.
Peter wrote, “Above all, love each other deeply because love covers a multitude of sins.”  We can more easily love our Lord, because He Is Love and we know that He loves us. We can love those who are good to us.  But Peter said ‘love each other deeply’, and that does not mean just those who love us.   It takes calling on that God love that is in us, that unconditional way that God loves us, to love someone who has taken our joy -someone who has sinned against us – someone that has hurt us badly.  But when we reach out in God’s love, those sins are covered over.  If someone has hurt us, or hurt someone we love, covering them with love does not mean we approve or condone what they have done.  Covering them with God;s love simply means we look at them in His love and give them over to God, and go on with life doing the good where we can, and in ways that we can. We do not allow another person to rob us of our peace, and joy, and fellowship with our Lord.  Not one day.  He is Love. Pray in peace and faith to Him as you show Him your love.
 Be free and Let Him handle the sins of others.  He has handled ours.
Let us be encouraged by the Word that shows us the way to be clear minded, and allow Him to bless us with His love, and joy, and peace- to bless us with health, prosperity, and happiness.
