Our Wonderful Friend, The Holy Spirit

Continuing to focus on the Holy Spirit for a time as we explore what the Word has given us to know and receive of Him…๐ŸŒŸ

We’ve been discussing the indwelling of Spirit in our mortal bodies. Well, how does that happen exactly? During His time on earth, Christ the Son taught His disciples that they could “receive” His Holy Spirit, who would come after He died, through prayer to the Father God. In other words, by asking for It. As the Word says in Luke 11:13: If you then, though you do not understand, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in Heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him.” God wants to journey with us consciously and perhaps part of the puzzle of why God sent Jesus to us was for this very reason. So that His Spirit could be accessed by any believer that wants it. The verse above implies it’s probably the most monumental gift imaginable. At the close of His ministry Jesus promised He would pray to the Father and, in answer to HIs prayer, The Counselor, the Comforter, would come to stay with them.

Once He “arrives” and that simply means, once we become “aware” of Spirit’s presence, we begin to understand our purpose through relationship with Him. On the evening of His resurrection Jesus came to His disciples in the upper room and breathed on them saying, “Receive the Holy Spirit,” John 20:22, but He instructed them to wait before beginning their ministry until the Spirit came upon them….

We’ll pick up there next week!

Let us be in special prayer for the needs of the world… Ukraine, Turkey, Syria, and so many other places that have needs that only our God of Love can meet. Like our very own country. May we heal. Love you so.๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ”ฐ
