“Pray continually.” 1 Thessalonians

The Word says in 1 Thessalonians 5:17  to “Pray continually”.  How do we do that, and why do we do it?

Prayer of course is simply talking to our Heavenly Father, our Lord Jesus Christ, and our Loving Holy Spirit who is in Heaven, and who resides within all who believe in Him.  As we talk to Him we are in constant fellowship with Him.  We have an awareness that we are in His presence, and we know that He is with us, and in us, as we journey through this experience of life. We ask Him, and look to Him to direct our steps, to give us wisdom and knowledge when making decisions, and to provide for our every need. We thank Him for His presence, and for all things that are in our lives as the Word says in  1Thessalonians 5:18.  We thank Him for the way He works all things to our good, and for our calling and purpose, as the Word says in Romans 8:28.
Prayer then is constant communication with our Lord, and Oneness with Him.  It keeps the channels of blessings, and power and love, and healing and well being, and peace and provision open between Him and all who will believe in Him.
There is no one way to pray, but Jesus gave us a model prayer, and a way to pray in His great ‘Sermon on the Mount’ as we see in Matthew 6: 9-13.  He said “This then is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be Your name, Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us today our daily bread.  And forgive us our debts as we also have forgiven our debtors.  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’”  I love this beautiful prayer, and is one I pray each morning as I talk to my Abba Father.
Through this, Jesus taught us to acknowledge the fact that our God is above all things; that He is our source for our every need; that His kingdom and power and love through Christ Jesus has come on earth in us and through us; that we are forgiven of our sins and trespasses and are to do the same for those in our lives; and that His Holy Spirit within and without is the power that delivers us from the evil one as we look to Him, as we pray continually.
May the Lord bless you, and keep you.  May He make His face shine upon, and be gracious to you.  May He turn His face toward you, and give you peace.
You are blessed in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, God’s Beloveds.  Have a wonderful day in Him as you walk in His Love.
