Promote Love. Proverbs 17:9

The Word says:

“He who covers over an offense promotes love, but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends.”
Proverbs 17: 9
Sometimes even the best of friends, or a member of the family that is our friend as well, can say or do something that offends us.  If that happens, we have some choices to make.
We can become upset and shut down the friendship, or relationship..  We can start ‘sharing’ what was said or done with others we know, (repeat the matter) and create some juicy gossip.  We can go for the ‘pay back’.
Or, we can turn to the Lord Jesus for the way to proceed – in prayer, and in the Word. He is the Word.  He is the way, the truth, and the life – in Him are all of the answers to all of the questions.  The Holy Spirit has given us His mind in our spirit.  He will give us the answer as to what to do, and how to handle any situation.  He is our wisdom.
The Word says “A man’s wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense.” Proverbs 19:11  If the person who offended us is truly a friend, or a loving member of the family, they did not mean to offend, and we should give them the benefit of the doubt.
We should go to them in love, telling them what is going in our heart and mind, and give them an opportunity to make things right.  The Word says, ” Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” (1 Peter 4:8)
Let us promote love at every opportunity.  Let us show it with our words and actions.  Let us be led by it – for God is Love.
All of us have committed offenses – especially against our Father in Heaven.  But in His grace and mercy, he sent Love to us through the birth, life, sacrifice, and resurrection of His Son, the Lord Jesus.  Soon we will celebrate that birth – the most beautiful promotion of Love ever displayed.  Let us live life in the glory of that love.  What a price He paid for us to have it.
You are greatly blessed, highly favored, and deeply loved my Friends.  May you be encouraged and lifted up by the truth of the Word.
May you be in perfect health, prosper in all things and be at peace, God’s Beloveds.
I love you, my Brothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus.
