The Perfect Covenant. John 14:6

A Covenant is a binding agreement made by two or more responsible individuals.   It is a binding promise made.  It is binding for an agreed upon time, or until it is fulfilled, or until it is changed and agreed upon by all parties and replaced, or until the death of one of the individuals.

Of course the keeping of the Covenant is only as good as the word of those who make it.   The Promises can be broken, but there are consequences when that happens
Our Jehovah God is a Covenant God.  The Word tells us of many Covenants, promises, the Lord has made with man over the years, and they are never broken by God Himself.  They have been fulfilled and replaced, but never broken.  Even if man failed to keep his side, God still kept His Word and fulfilled what He said He would.  The Word tells us that in fact God has put a limit on Himself when it comes to keeping a Covenant, a promise made.  He cannot lie.  He will not allow Himself to do so. (Titus 1:2)  He is Truth.  He will keep His Word.
When God raised up Moses to deliver His people from bondage, He made a Covenant with Moses, and gave Him a set of laws for His children.  It was “The Law” that Jesus said He came to fulfill. “Not to abolish it, but rather to fulfill it.”(Matthew 5:17) Jesus said, I am “The Way, the Truth, and The Life.” (John 14:6)  He declared Himself to be the New Covenant.  The new way.  A Covenant of Grace, and mercy, and Love.  A Covenant that was between Him, and the Father for us.  A Covenant that can not fail, a Covenant of perfect Truth.  A Covenant that was sealed by the blood of Jesus, the supreme, and ultimate sacrifice for all wrongs and failures, and sickness, and weakness, and mistakes of man. “For by one sacrifice He has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.” (Hebrews 10:14)
Let us rest in the grace, and peace, and love of the Covenant that Abba Father God has made with His only Begotten Son for us. The Word says, “The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this.  First He says: “This is the Covenant I will make with them after that time, says the Lord.  I will put My laws in their hearts and I will write them on their minds.”  Then He adds, “Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.”
The Law Jesus puts into our hearts is this: “This is my command: Love each other.”  (John 15:17)  He said, “I chose you so that you might go and bear fruit- fruit that will last – and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. ” (John 15:16)  This will surface in our hearts and minds as a way of life as we walk with Christ in Covenant.
God always keeps His Word.  Let us enter fully into that Covenant of Grace and Mercy, and Love.  Exciting and wonderful things are ours as we do.
