We ought to love one another 1 John 4:11

As we continue our study of 1 John, we pick up at verse 11 of Chapter 4.   Inspired by the Holy Spirit, the Apostle writes:

“Dear Friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.  No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and His love is made complete in us.”
1 John 4: 11-12
John had declared: “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God IS love.”   He then told us, “God showed us His love by sending His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him” (1 John 4: 8-9)   He sent His one and only Son to tell us He loves us.  Christ Jesus personally delivered the message,  and then proved it by allowing Himself to take all of our sins, sorrows, weaknesses and diseases upon His body and die for us on a cross to set us free from sin and death when we believe in Him. John said, “This is love.”
Here John is saying since we have been loved like that, loved in an unconditional unearned way, we ought to love one another.  How can we withhold love from a brother or a sister when it has been so abundantly freely given unto us?  How can we put restrictions on who we will love, or judge who is worthy of our love by their actions?
Our Heavenly Father is Spirit and Love, and has chosen to not show Himself to man physically.  He talks to us in our spirit. In this way, every person of every race and every gender can relate to Him as being One with Him.  No one has seen Him personally, but He has shown Himself through Christ Jesus. (John 1:18)   In turn, He asks us to show what He looks like by showing His love to those He brings into our lives.  His love is made complete in us when we do.
The Holy Spirit comes to live in us when we accept Christ as Savior.  We have the Holy Spirit of Love within.  The power of love is shown, and is made complete, when we show this Godly love to one another through our prayers for others, and in the words we speak, and in the actions we take.
We are greatly and deeply loved, God’s Beloveds.  Father has shown us that.  He has completed us. Let us rejoice and be glad in His love, and show what it looks like to others.
