“Whatever the Father does, the Son also does.” John 5:19

As we continue our study of the Gospel of John, we pick up at verse 19, of Chapter 5.  Writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the Apostle pens these words:

“Jesus gave them this answer: ‘Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by Himself; He can only do what He sees His Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.  For the Father loves the Son and shows Him all does.  Yes, and He will show Him even greater works than these, so that you will be amazed.  For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom He is pleased to give it.  Moreover the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father.  Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent Him.”  John 5: 19-23
Jesus had healed a paralyzed man on the Sabbath, and now He is trying to tell the upset Jewish Leaders in the Temple Why, and He is telling them Who He is.
He told them He could do nothing by Himself, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.  He was saying to them, “I came to do the work of the Father. This is the kind of work my Father does.   I am my Father’s Son, this is what I do.”   So it is for us.  When we accept Jesus into our lives, and become as one with Him, we are to be about the work of the Father.  We are His sons and daughters, whatever He does, we also are to do. What is that?  Whatever is loving – whatever is good.
Jesus spoke of giving life to the dead just as His Father does. This we do as we bring the message of the Grace of God to those who are living without Him.
Jesus was telling them the position the Father had given Him.  He said even the Father judges no one now, and leaves all judgment to the Son.  So it must be for us.
We are to judge no one;  we are to just live in Christ, and let the world see what He looks like.  In all situations, our default attitude should always be “What Would Jesus Do”, let the Holy Spirit lead, and we will get it right.  That might take some time as we move our attitude from flesh to spirit, but we will get there more and more as we ‘purpose’ to do so. We will ultimately find ourselves saying and doing the things Jesus would do without even giving it thought after a while as we daily give ourselves to Him.  We shall honor the Son, we shall honor the Father.  We shall honor the Holy Spirit.  We shall be as one with Him. His work shall be done.
Jesus came to show us the goodness and love of the Father in person.  May it be so in us.
May you have a wonderful day in the Lord, Beloveds of God.  May you be refreshed, in your body, your soul, and your spirit as His love flows through you to those in your world.  May you walk in perfect health, and divine wealth as you prosper in all good things.
