“Who am I?” Exodus 3:11

When we read the account of God calling Moses to perform a task for Him, it is encouraging and a little scary when we see the confidence God has in us to get things done for Him.  We find this encounter in Exodus 3: 1—-

The Lord sets a bush on fire and gets Moses attention, and has him come to Him, and speaks to Moses and says, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt.  I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering.  So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey.  And now the cry of the Israelites has reached Me, and I have seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them.   So now go.  I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring My people the Israelites out of Egypt.
But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?   And God’s reply was, “I will be with you.”
We see from the rest of the story,as we read on, of the provision the Lord provided for Moses to make this happen, but the Most important was His promise – “I will be with you.”
When the Lord comes to us – and that can be in many different ways – and tells us He is going to do a work through us, probably our first question would be the same as Moses.  “Who am I to do that?”  But this we know as we read the accounts of the many He has called and sent out, if He is with us – “All things are possible to the person who believes.”
There is wisdom in talking things over with the Lord, but if He shows us in the many ways He can and does that we are the person He wants to do the thing He is calling us to do, we can rest assured it will get done if we will just “show up”.
Rescuing someone from oppression can be helping someone turn from a harmful habit, or relationship.  It can be leading them to the love and peace that is theirs in the Lord.  It can be encouraging someone to use the potential, and the gifts the Lord has given them.  It can be starting a Church, or starting an Orphanage.   I am privileged to know people that have done both.  What awesome respect I have for them.
So as you look in the mirror, and ask yourself sometimes, “Who am I?”  Know without question that you are a person that God can use to perform miracles.  You are His Kid, His DNA is in you, and when you walk with Him all things are possible.
Blessings and love to you, and yours, God’s Beloveds.  May you walk in His divine health, and His divine wealth of perfect peace.
