The wise in heart are called discerning. Proverbs 16: 21

The word ‘discerning’ is used little in most circles.  Webster says to discern means ‘to separate, to perceive or recognize clearly’.  Discerning means ‘having good judgment; astute, discriminating, perceptive, penetrating’.

Proverbs 16:21 tells us ‘the wise in heart are called discerning.’

How do we become a person of discernment?  How do we become wise in heart?  How do we make wise decisions?   It is by going to the source of wisdom, and discernment every day, and listening. That source is the Holy Spirit working in us through Christ Jesus.
James wrote: “Who is wise and understanding among you?  Let him show you by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth.  Such ‘wisdom’ does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, of the devil.  For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.  But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.  Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.”  James 3: 13-18
Matthew recorded the words of Jesus that says “By their fruit you shall know them.  Every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.”  Matthew 7:16,17.
So to be a person of discernment, we must be wise in heart.  To be wise in heart, we must obtain wisdom.  To obtain wisdom we must go to the Lord each day to ask for wisdom, knowledge and understanding. He will give it.  We must listen, and act in faith and trust.
For as Proverbs tells us, “Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers, and blessed is he who trusts in the Lord. (Divine instruction comes from the Word)  The wise in heart are called discerning, and pleasant words promote instruction.”  Proverbs 16: 20-21.
We are not to judge, that is reserved for the Lord.  He is the only One qualified to do so.  However, we can look at our fruit, and the fruit of those in our lives, and make discerning decisions about how we are ‘doing life’, and about how we will handle ourselves in relationships with others.  Through the love, wisdom, and discernment given to us by our Lord, we will get it right when we listen.
Have a wonderful day, God’s Beloveds.  Be filled with the presence of our Loving heavenly Father, our Lord Christ Jesus, and the beautiful Holy Spirit who brings wisdom and discernment to show us the Way.
You are greatly blessed, highly favored, and deeply loved, my Brothers and Sisters in Christ.  Walk in the health, prosperity, peace, and happiness that He has provided.
I love you,
