As we continue our study of the Gospel of John, we pick up as Jesus is with His disciples at the last Passover meal before His giving of His life for us that we might live the Abundant Life, in Him. He told them, and us, “I am the Way the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. If you really know Me, you will know My Father as well. From now on you do know Him, and have seen Him.” John 14: 6-7 He had said, “I and the Father are One.” John 10:30, and so it is.
The Word says we are children of God. How can that be since He is Spirit, and we are flesh. It is because Jesus has made the Way. Jesus is Son of Man, Son of God. The Word says “for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” Gal 3:28 We become sons and daughters of God when we accept Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior. He is Spirit, and He is Flesh. This is what we become in Him. He is the Way that we become One with the Father. It is through Christ that we become children of God, and joint heirs with HIm. He is the Way. He is the Truth. He is the Life. He is our mediator. He is our intercessor. He has satisfied all payment of sin for mankind for all time so that Father can receive us as Holy. This is the Grand Plan of Father God to bring us to Himself as His Children. To be as One with Him in Love.
Philip said unto the Lord, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.” Jesus answered: “Don’t you know Me Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen Me, has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father.'” John 14: 8-9.
One commentator said, “Jesus is the visible, tangible image of the invisible God. He is the complete revelation of what God is like, and who He is. To know Jesus is to know the Father. The search for God, for truth and reality, ends in Christ.” The Word says, “The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.” Colossians 1:15. And it says: “In the past, God spoke to our ancestors through the Prophets at many times, and in various ways, but in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, and through Him made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory, and the exact representation of His being, sustaining all things by His powerful Word. After He had provided purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand at the Majesty in Heaven. So He became as much superior to the angels as the name He has inherited is superior to theirs.” Hebrews 1: 1-4
A commentator said, “As the Way, Jesus is our path to the Father. As the Truth He is the realtiy of all God’s promises. As the Life, He joins His divine life to ours, both now and for all eternity.”
Father God, and Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are One. In Jesus, we are One in God, and all that He is. He is Love. Let us be One with Him in Love, and walk in all that He has for us -His Children?.
