“Jesus Wept.” John 11:35

As we continue our study of the Gospel of John, we pick up at verse 28 of Chapter 11.  Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the Apostle wrote:

“After she had said this, she went back and called her sister Mary aside.  ‘The Teacher is here,’ she said, ‘and is asking for you.’  When Mary heard this, she got up quickly and went to Him.  Now Jesus had not entered the village, but was still at the place where Martha had met Him.  When the Jews who had been with Mary in the house, comforting her noticed how quickly she got up and went out, they followed her, supposing she was going to the tomb to mourn there.  When Mary reached the place where Jesus was and saw Him, she fell at His feet and said, ‘Lord , if You had been here, my brother would not have died.’  When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping He was deeply moved in spirit and troubled.  ‘Where have you laid him?’ He asked. ‘Come and see, Lord’ they replied.     Jesus wept.”    John 11: 28 – 35
Jesus was their Friend.  He stayed with them often when He went to Jerusalem, and He personally cared for this family; as they cared for Him.  He loved them, and it moved Him in His spirit, in His soul, to see them hurting.  It moved Him to tears from His body, as it would probably move us at the death of a dear Friend.  He wept.  Here is truth:
When Christ walked upon this earth, He came as the Son of God, and the Son of Man.  He is totally God, which is Holy Spirit, Holy Love , and He is totally Soul, with all of its emotions, and totally a Body of flesh, with all of a person’s feelings.  When He came to earth as a person of the flesh, as our flesh is,  it was for one reason: it was so that He could give that body, and His blood, as a sacrifice for us.  As He said the night He had the Last Supper with His disciples:  “And He took bread gave thanks for it, and gave it to them, saying, ‘This is my body given for you, do this in remembrance of Me.  In the same way, after supper He took the cup saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.’  Luke 22: 19-20   He let them beat that body unmercifully pouring out His blood for us.  He let them put it on a cross to die as a sacrifice for us for our sins.  He finished the work of redemption and propitiation for us with that body, and the blood of it because He loves us.
He now has a beautiful resurrected imperishable body, the first of its kind, but it is still Son of Man, Son of God, because it is resurrected.  All authority has been given unto Him, and  He rules over all as sits at the right hand of the Father in heaven, interceding for us because He still feels for us.  He understands everything we go through.  Every pain, every emotion, high or low, every loss, every win, every defeat, every victory.  He has experienced it.  He totally cares for us and has the power to protect, provide, and to give us peace and prosperity because of what He did.   I do not know if He ever weeps in heaven, but I do know He totally cares for us. He proved that.  We are His Friends.  He loves us So.  Let us return that love to Him, and to pass it on to those in our lives.
