“And so we know and rely on the Love God has for us.” 1 John 4:16

As we continue our journey through the Book of 1 John, we pick up at verse 16 of Chapter 4.  Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the Apostle writes:

“And so we know and rely on the love God for us.  God is Love.  Whoever lives in Love lives in God, and God in them.  This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment:  In this world we are like Jesus.”  1 John 4: 16-17
John had stated, ” If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God.”  (1 John 4:15)  This happens as we are ‘born again’ into this new creation by the Holy Spirit.  Old things are passed away, all things have become new.(2 Corinthians 5:17) God now lives in us. Our soul has been renewed.  We think differently.  We look at things differently.  Priorities change.
When we know without a doubt that someone loves us, we know we can rely on that person to want the best for us.  We trust them.  When we believe the truth that God is love, and that He lives in us, we are going to let Him have control of our soul and follow His lead.  Why would we not?  He loves us; we can rely on the fact that He wants only the best for us.  We can trust Him in all things.  Even when we cannot see how; He is working for our good.  Always.  (Romans 8:28)
John says, “In this world we are like Jesus.”  Jesus relied on the love His Father had for Him.  It was His power, and He let it flow through Himself to all who would receive it.  So it is for us.  God’s love is our power. God’s love is complete as we receive it, live in it, and pass it on in word and deed.
When we are in love, we have a soft heart. We walk around with a smile on our face.  We can’t help it.  No matter what is going on, that smile may be gone for a moment, but it is right back as we go on.  That is the power of love. God is love.  He is in us. We can rely on it.  Let us love Him, as He loves us.
Blessings and love to you, and yours through Christ Jesus, God’s Beloveds.
