Moving through 1 John, we pick up at verse 5, of Chapter One. Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, The Apostle John writes:
“This is the message we have heard from Him and declare to you: God is Light; in Him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with Him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.” 1 John 1: 5-7
Jesus said, “When a man believes in Me, he does not believe in Me only, but in the One who sent me. When he looks at Me, he sees the One who sent Me. I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in Me should stay in darkness.(John 12: 44-46)
Because of His love for us, our Heavenly Father sent Jesus to lead us out of the darkness of this fallen world. A world that is ruled by the evil one that lied and deceived to steal it from man. A world that God’s children walk in with blinded eyes that makes them think it is ‘normal’ to have sickness, lack, anger, anxiety, addictions, lust of the eye, lust of the flesh, pride and ego, and for their mantra to be “what about me?” There can be no true fellowship of love in that because it is darkness. God is light, and does not dwell in these things. He asks us to open our hearts to Jesus,and let Him light up our world, and come out of such things so that we can fellowship with Him, and with the Son, and The Holy Spirit, and All who live by the truth of the Word.
The Word tells us that Jesus said unto us, “You are the light of the world.” Matthew 5:14. He said, “Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16
Jesus said, “No one lights a lamp and hides it in a jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, he puts it on a stand so that those who come in can see the light.” Luke 8: 16
Christ Jesus is Light. He is indeed the Light of the World. He tells us we too are the light of the world when we walk in Him because His blood has purified us from all sin. When we have invited Him into our life, The Holy Spirit lights us up with His grace, and mercy, and love which drives out the darkness from our mind. He lights up the Word for us. Just as when we walk into a dark room and turn on the light, the darkness is still around us. The light just lets us see the Way and drives out the darkness in that room while the light is on. Darkness will be in the world until it is time for this time to be over but God has given the us the power to light up the world wherever we are.
We are His ‘points of light’. He has called us to light the way to a life of victory in this world, and the Way to the next world when we leave this one.
God is Light. We are light. Let us enjoy His Fellowship of Love above the darkness.
