“Father has granted life in the Son.” John 5:26

As we continue our study of the Gospel of John, we pick up at verse 26 of Chapter 5.  Writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the Apostle writes:

“For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son also to have life in Himself.”  (John 5:26)
Where does life come from?  What brings people, and animals, and vegetation, and birds, and everything that lives to life?  Where does life come from?  Regardless of one’s position on evolution verses full creation, I would think we would all have to agree, there must be a source of life.  I choose to believe that source is God Almighty, our Father God of Love.
I also choose to believe the Bible as it says, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”  (Genesis 1:1). I believe He created everything fully developed as He created.  Of course I realize He could have created and used the one cell, and evolved everything from there, but I feel life was complete when it was brought forth.   In Genesis 2, the Word says “Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. (Genesis 2:7)
God had said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let the birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.”  (Genesis 2:20).  He said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds.” (Genesis 2:24).  Notice God gave creation power to the water, and to the land, and life came forth from them, but into man, He personally breathed, and breathes the breathe of life into each of us.  In (Deuteronomy 30:20)  the Word says, “For the Lord is your life.”  (Psalm 36:9) says, “For with You is the fountain of life, in Your light we see light.”  God is the source of life.
Father God IS life!.  It is His to grant.  He chose to give us life and light through Christ Jesus.  In John 1, the Word says, “In Him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. (John 1:4)
Therefore, when Jesus was telling the Religious Leaders that life was in Him, He was telling  them who He really was.  He said at another time, “I am the Way, and the truth, and the Life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6)  He was saying to them, “Life is in Me”.
This was His message to them, it is His message unto us.  This is the message we live and speak.  Life eternal in the hereafter is in Christ Jesus.  Abundant Life in this world in the here and now is in Christ Jesus.  He is our protector, our provider, our propitiation, our peace.
The Holy Spirit speaking through Paul says, “Consequently just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and LIFE for all people.”(Romans 5:18)
Father has granted us life in the Son.  Let us give Him thanks and praise, and receive Jesus as Lord of our Life.
May you walk in perfect health in Him – for “by His wounds you are healed”   May you prosper, and be blessed in all good things for this is His will for you.  This is the Abundant Life He provided in that one righteous act on the cross for you, and for me, and for all who will believe that He is who, and what He says He is.  He loves us So.
