As we enter full speed ahead into the Christmas Season of buying gifts, and having parties, and planning trips, we get our minds filled with things such as these, and perhaps forget the reason for the season.
It is all about God’s Love, and how He chose to show that love before the world, as we know it, was created.
Because of His knowledge of all things, present, and future, God knew when He created man that we would fall away from Him. Not that He wanted us to, or set us up to fall, but to give us free will, He could see this would happen. Still, He created us to be like Him. We are His children with our own mind, and ability to make decisions. So, since He knew we would make mistakes and some bad decisions, and would indeed fall, He created a plan. He decided on a time to bring it. That plan was to come into this life Himself as a man, experience the life of a man of flesh, and die as a man in our place which He would use to clear all accounts of mistakes – if a person accepted His gift of life, and Love. He created us, and could make us do or be whatever He chooses, but He desires that we want to be with Him because we choose to love Him out of our own free will.
When it was time for the plan to go in place, He chose a young lady that found favor with Him, and by His Holy Spirit, created life within her womb. He had spoken this through His Prophet Isaiah hundreds of years before. He said, “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call Him Immanuel – which means God with us.” (Isaiah 7: 14)
The Word says, “This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about. His Mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.” Matthew (1: 18,19) Because it appeared she had been unfaithful to Joseph, the Law said she should be stoned, so this was his plan.
“But after he had considered this an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, ‘Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.” (Matthew 1: 20-21)
“When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.” (Matthew 1: 24-25)
Father God made a decision to create man knowing he would fall. Joseph made a decision to listen to God so that Father could pick us up, dust the sin off, and bring us home.
We are greatly blessed, and highly loved, my Brothers, and my Sisters in our gift of life, Christ Jesus. Merry Christmas.
