“Jesus came to set us free.” Psalm 107

When we are born into this world of the flesh, and material, we are a part of it.  It is who we are.  We do not realize we are born into captivity.

It is like a child being born in a prison.  As they grow, and learn life in their environment, they think this is the way it is for everybody.
They expect to be locked in.  They accept the fact there are chains and that they are limited by them. They do not know what freedom is.
But then someone comes in to the prison, and begins to tell them of a different place, and what it is to be free.  A place where there are no chains.  Where there are no gates to keep them locked in. A place of love, and light, and happiness.  They tell them they can be free and have these things because the price of their freedom has already been paid.  All they have to do is to believe that fact, and to receive it into their heart, and it is theirs for the asking.
The Word says, “Some sat in darkness, in utter darkness, prisoners suffering in iron chains.  Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and He saved them from their distress.  He brought them out of darkness, the utter darkness, and broke away their chains.  Let them give thanks to the Lord for His unfailing love and His wonderful deeds for mankind, for He breaks down gates of bronze and cuts through bars of iron.” (Psalm 107: 10, 13-16)
Abba Father God, out of His love, sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, into the prison of a fallen and dark world to show His children the way to come home.  Jesus brought truth, and grace, mercy, and power, and love to set the captives free.   He broke down the gates of bronze and cut through the bars of iron by His finished work at the cross.  All they had to do to receive their freedom was to believe in Him, and walk free.  His hope was they would come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.( 2 Timothy 2:23)
Blessings and love to you, and yours, God’s Beloveds.  Jesus has set us free.  Let us choose to walk in that freedom.
