“Jesus has been granted authority to Judge.” John 5:27

As we continue our study of the Gospel of John, we pick up at verse 28 of Chapter 5.  Writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, John writes:
“Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear His voice and come out—- those who have done what is good will rise to live, and those who have done what is evil will rise to be condemned.  By myself I can do nothing. I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but Him who sent me.” John 5: 28-30
Jesus came to save the lost.  He did not come to condemn. The Word tells us in John 3:17, “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world , but to save the world through Him.”  Sadly the world is already condemned, separated from God, because of the spiritual death of Adam, first man of the flesh- our father of the flesh.  This is how every person of the flesh is born into the world.  This is the state we are in until we are born again through the grace of our Lord, and our faith in Him.
The Lord talked about Judgment day as recorded in Matthew, 25: 31-46.  There will be a time of judgment.  He will call everyone to stand before Him.  Some to the left, and some to the right.  He will have to judge because that is how Father has so declared it. Therefore Jesus will have to call it like it is.  But here is the Good News for those who believe in Him.  As John recorded, and we see in John 5:24 these words of the Lord:  “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes Him who sent me ‘has’ eternal life and will not be judged, but has crossed over from death to life.”  Praise the Lord!!
Let us accept Christ Jesus as the Light, and Life of this world and put our faith in Him.  As we do, we shall receive a born again spirit and become a child of God that has a natural desire to love God, love ourselves and love others, and treat each as we should.  Jesus has the authority to judge and He has decreed that we  we shall pass from death to life when we ask Him into our lives.  We shall be excused from participating at judgment day, and live in the kingdom in the here and now.  That is Good News.
May you have a wonderful day as you walk with our Lord in Spirit, and in Truth, Beloveds of God.  He has granted us unmerited favor through His great Love for us.  Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
