Some people say that our God, is not interested in our comfort. That we are here to learn things, and to grow, and sometimes that is not comfortable.
I get the part about learning and growing, and sometimes that it is not comfortable until we are on the other side of the lesson. But the Word says that God is indeed interested in our comfort.
Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and the personal teaching of Christ Jesus, Paul wrote: “The Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” (2 Corinthians 1: 3-4)
Our Abba Father, our heavenly Daddy who loves us dearly is very concerned about us, His children. We may be going through some things in life that makes this a rough season. But may we never let the evil one make us think we are going through it alone, and that we just have to tough it out. The Holy Spirit is called the Comforter, and the Father is the God of all comfort, and Jesus comforts us by His presence. Our great God in three persons, Blessed Trinity, comforts us body, soul, and spirit.
We may live in a place where the temp is 110, but if we are blessed with an air conditioner that can bring it down to a comfortable temp if we use it, why would we not use it? Since the Word of God says He will comfort us, why would we not ask and expect Him to. And then we ourselves become a source of comfort as we share with others who may be going through a rough patch of road that we have been through it, and God was with us every step bringing us the living water of the Holy Spirit, and the strength and power of the blood of our Lord Jesus.
We grow from our faith in the love of our Lord, and from learning to stand firm on His Word – not by the toughness of trials on our own. He is with us. He wants us to let Him comfort us as we grow. Amen.
