This basic message went out last week, but 90 plus were blocked because some of the engines driving it on marked it as spam; so I am sending it again in part because I don’t know who received it, and who did not. THANK YOU, to all who took the time to reply as I was trying to locate the problem. I know you do not have time to to plow through all the emails you are receiving these days.
Anyway, to make sure we get the ‘spam label’ off, I have changed the name of the title of the message from “Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the King of Israel!”, to what is shown above. May you be blessed by His Word.
We continue our study of the Gospel of John. We pick up in chapter 12. Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the Apostle writes:
“The next day the great crowd that had come for the festival heard that Jesus was on His way to Jerusalem. They took palm branches and went out to meet Him shouting, HOSANNA!
BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD!
BLESSED IS THE KING OF ISRAEL!’
Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, as it is written: ‘Do not be afraid, Daughter Zion; see your King is coming, seated on a donkey’s colt.’ At first His disciples did not understand all this. Only after Jesus was glorified did they realize that these things has been written about Him, and that these things had been done to Him.” John 12: 12-16
Jesus had arrived. He was the most famous man in Israel at that point He began His last week on earth as Royalty. He was given a “Kings Welcome” into the City of Jerusalem – the welcome of the Messiah who was to deliver Israel from bondage. Even though the Jewish Leaders did not agree, The People had decided He was the One- and indeed He was Even at the moment they were lifting Him up in praise and adoration, and proclamation, He was fulfilling prophecy the Lord had given the Prophet Zechariah, over 500 years before.(Zechariah 9:9) Giving Jesus a Royal Entrance into the City of David to proclaim Him as The Messiah was a divine part of the Grand Plan of Salvation. The Lord told Zechariah to “write it down”, This he did. It came to pass. Every step of the Messiah for mankind before His grand entrance was planned, given to the Prophets, and came to pass. The written word of what is, and what is to be, has been given to us through Christ Jesus both in the Old Testament and in the New. He wrote it through many different prophets, teachers, and preachers, but they were they are all Him. For as Paul was given to write in 2 Timothy 3:16, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching…” Teaching us that God is Love, and Grace and Mercy, and Goodness, and provision, and peace, and that His divine plan of Salvation includes each of us who believe in His Son. (John 6:29).
The Apostles, and many of the people saw the truth of what had happened after the resurrection, and they saw Him in His resurrected body. They were able to see that Jesus had defeated death, and that what was prophesied and written down would happen did indeed come to pass. They came to know that Jesus is currently sitting on the Throne of Grace beside our Father in heaven, and that all authority has been granted unto Him. They came to know that He rules His current kingdom of Spirit and Truth with power and love from His position of Love.
The Word tells us of the many things that are to come from here. That Jesus will come again, and rule in flesh and Spirit from the throne of David, and of the many things that will come to pass before the new heavens shall come where we shall be with Him in all of His glory. But as we wait, we live in expectation of good as we live for Him in this world in His love for Him. We live in the Abundant Life He provided in His first coming as He released us from sin and death at the cross. We live it in love for Him, and our fellowman, and ourselves. We tell the Good News in word and in the way we live, and what we expect.
