“One thing I do know, I was blind but now I see!” John 9:25

“His neighbors and those who had formerly seen him begging asked, ‘Isn’t this the same man who used to sit and beg?’  Some claimed that he was.  Others said, ‘No, he only looks like him.’  But he himself insisted, ‘I am the man.’  ‘How then were your eyes opened?’, they asked.  He replied, ‘The man they call Jesus made some mud and put it on my eyes. He told me to go to Siloam and wash.  So I went and washed, and then I could see.’  ‘Where is this man?’ they asked him  ‘I don’t know.’ he said.   They brought to the Pharisees the man who had been blind.  Now the day on which Jesus had made the mud and opened the man’s eyes was a Sabbath.  Therefore the Pharisees also asked how he had received his sight. ‘He put mud on my eyes,’ the man replied , ‘and I washed and now I see.’

Some of the Pharisees said, ‘This man is not from God, he does not keep the Sabbath.’  But others asked, ‘How can a sinner perform such signs? So they were divided. Then they turned again to the blind man.  ‘What have you to say about Him?  It was your eyes He opened.’  The man replied, ‘He is a prophet.’   They still did not believe he had been born blind and had received his sight until they sent for the man’s parents.  ‘Is this your son?’ they asked.  ‘Is this the one you say was born blind?  How is it that now He can see?’

‘We know he is our son,’ the parents answered, ‘and we know he was born blind.  But how he can see now, or who opened his eyes we do not know. Ask him.  He is of age; he will speak for himself.’  His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders, who already had decided that anyone who acknowledged that Jesus was the Messiah would be put out of the synagogue.  That was why his parents said, ‘He is of age, ask him.’

A second time they summoned the man who had been blind.  ‘Give glory to God by telling the truth,’ they said.  ‘We know this man is a sinner.’

He replied, ‘Whether He is a sinner or not, I don’t know.  One thing I do know.  I was blind but now I see!’  John 9: 8-25

This man did not know Jesus.  He just knew what He had done, and he was not afraid to tell it.  Many times we are afraid to witness to others because we do not know enough about the Lord, or about the Word.  All we need to know is what He has done for us.  It is an experience that is uniquely ours.  It is ours to tell.  It is always with a power that can change lives, because we know that it changed ours.   In this case, this man was healed with a miracle that had never been seen before, and The Lord used it to teach, as He always did.  Using earth to repair the man’s eyes honoring the Word that states that man was created from the dust of the ground, (Genesis 2:7).  He did it on the Sabbath to teach that it is right to do good on every day of the week.  All days are sacred, and bring rest to our souls in Him.  He is the Sabbath. (Matthew 12:8-12) He did it to teach that it is right to stand up to false teaching, and not be afraid. He did it to show it is not how good we are, or what we have done to ‘get right’ with the Lord.  It is by His Grace that miracles come into our lives.

Let us always share our life changing experience in the Lord at every opportunity.  You have heard mine many times so I won’t go into it again.  But let me just echo the words of this man. “One thing I do know, I was blind, but now I see.”  May each of you see the miraculous Blessings and unconditional Love that Jesus has bestowed upon you, precious Abundant Life Family.   I love you, Brothers and Sisters of my heart.
