The Tongue of the wise brings healing

Hello my Brothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus.  This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

As we read from the book of Wisdom, we find this truth:
“Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing”.
Proverbs 12:18
Everyone knows how it makes us feel when we are called names like “Hey Shorty.”  “Hey Fatty”.  “Hey Stringbean.”  “Hey Stupid”.  “Hey Clumsy”  “Hey Ugly” or made the brunt of a joke, or made fun of for the way we talk, and the list goes on.  It is often said to bring a laugh from friends, or by someone just trying to be funny.  I knew a man that was always putting people down with sarcasm and ugly humor.  His son was short and heavy.  He called him “Squatty Body”.  Mercy.  You could see the pain on the young man’s face, but he would just smile and make no comment.  Saying unthinking words to someone or about someone hurts.
Even if they laugh with the crowd about what is said, they are hurt and feel degraded.  The words “pierce like a sword”.
This kind of stuff is ‘junior high’, but unfortunately some people never grow up.  They do these things most of the time in the name of ‘fun’, and seem to be unaware of the pain they inflict.   Words that put down others can often cause wounds that never heal or can cause scarring for life.
Let us bring healing through the love that comes into us when we accept Christ into our heart.  God is love, and so are we when the Holy Spirit brings new life into us.  Let us use our tongue to lift up instead of putting down.  Let us look for the good that is in a person no matter what the outside looks like, or how they may act.  As we have always heard:  “If you can’t say something good, don’t say anything.”
Thinking about what we say shows wisdom.  There are times when we need to speak up for someone or to correct a situation, or correct a lie, and that should be done.  But when we do say something, it should be truth – it should be uplifting – it should be encouraging – it should be healing.  All involved should be considered.
That is what we want for ourselves.  That is what we all need.  Let us be wise with our tongue.  It has the power to heal.  Let it be so.
Have a wonderful day, God’s Beloveds.  Remember that you are greatly blessed, highly favored, and deeply loved.  So it written – so it is.  Let us live accordingly letting the light of God’s love shine through us.
Blessings and love to you, and yours.
