“God is Light.” 1 John 1:5

The Word tells us “God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with Him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth.  But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.  If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.  If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”  1 John 1: 5-9

My daughter and I were blessed to have dinner with our Pastor and his wife, and 4 other couples this past Sunday evening.  It was a time of fellowship.  A time to get to know other people in our Church.  People that we worship with, but only see their face, and know nothing about them.  As we ate, we went around the table and took turns telling how we came to the Church, and what our greatest passion is.
We began to see inside them; to hear where they where coming from and where they desired to go, to hear about the issues they were dealing with, and what was most important in their lives.  They are no longer just a face in the crowd, they are our brothers and sisters in Christ, and we shall smile in recognition as we see them in the Fellowship.  They have been brought into the light of our world.
Jesus told us that “He is the Light of the world”, (John 8:12)  He came to bring light to a world that has fallen into darkness, and has come to think it is a ‘normal’ state.  When we ask Him into our life, and walk in Him, He purifies us, and we can see truth.  He said to us,  ” You are the light of the world.  A city on a hill cannot be hidden.  Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.  Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.” (Matthew 5:14-15)
May we not allow our light to be hidden under a bowl – whatever that bowl may be.  Let us ask the Lord to open a way to fellowship with some we do not know, and perhaps bring a light they are in need of, and they in turn bring a light to us- be it neighbors, co-workers, family, or someone we are acquainted with, but do not know.  The Holy Spirit will open us to the oneness that we truly are in ‘His Light’ as we come to know each other.
Blessings and love to you, and yours, God’s Beloveds.  May you prosper and be in perfect health, through Christ Jesus.
