“This is the confidence we have in approaching God:” 1 John 5:14

As we continue our study of 1 John, we pick up at verse 14 of Chapter 5.  Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the Apostle John writes:

“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will He hears us.  And if we know that He hears us – whatever we ask- we know that we have what we asked of Him.”  1 John 5: 14-15.
John had just written to us “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.” (1 John 5:13)  Father God, Jehova Elohim, is saying through John, “I want you to KNOW that you HAVE – not may receive later but in fact know and have NOW-  eternal life if you will believe in the name I have given my Son, the name of Jesus, and what He has done for you.”  He said this truth through John to us, and He says this truth through us to others when we believe.
Father goes on to tell us to have confidence in approaching Him.  Approach Him as the loving, good, Abba Father, Daddy, that He is.  He wants us to understand that through one man, His first created child Adam, the world was thrown into darkness, but through one man, His only begotten Son Jesus, Light was brought into the world. (Romans 5: 12-20)  (Please read those verses in Romans when you have the time.)   Father wants a relationship with us, and has proved His love for us through Christ Jesus.  There is nothing separating us because Jesus has cleared the way.  No past sin, no current sin, no person, no issue, nothing but unbelief on our part and failure to go to Him can keep us from having a loving Father/Son/Daughter relationship with Him. (Hebrews 4:16) says, “Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”
When someone has proven they always have our best interest at heart, it is a delight to spend time with them.  We go to them in confidence that good things will come from our time together.
We will camp here for this session, and pick back up on Wednesday as we look more at this wonderful promise.
The Word says, “The Lord delights in our well being”  Walk in His blessings and love, my Brothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus.  Be confident of His Love for you.
