“Walking in the Truth” 2 John 4

As we continue our study of 2 John, we pick up at verse 4.   Inspired and led by the Holy Spirit, John writes:

“It has given me great joy to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as the Father commanded us.”  (2 John 4)
To see their children “Walking in the Truth” is the desire of every loving father and mother.   In John’s salutation, we see him point clearly to Jesus Christ as the Truth.
Jesus Himself said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6)    When taken out of context, this statement has been used to make followers of Christ seem as if they are a religion that is exclusive to them only.  The fact is Jesus was not talking about a religion, I am sure you have noticed He was not a religious Guy:  He was talking about a relationship – a oneness with Him and the Father.  He went on to say, “If you really knew Me, you would know my Father as well.  The Father is in Me, and I am in the Father.  If you have seen Me, you have seen the Father.”  This is truth.
Walking in the Truth means walking in Jesus.  That means we have responded to the call of the Holy Spirit to come home to the love of the Father, and we have asked Jesus into our heart to show us the way.
Walking in Truth means we accept all that Jesus has done for us as finished work for our redemption, and salvation.  Walking in truth means we accept His grace, and mercy, and live in a relationship of love and friendship and peace with Him, and those in our lives.  Walking in truth means we believe in the power of His blood shed for us as our physical protection, and abundant provision, and the work of perfection in our soul. “For by one sacrifice He has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.” (Hebrews 10:14)  Our Heavenly Father sees us as perfect already in our spirit through Christ, and the Holy Spirit is at work in us bringing it to manifestation in our soul and body.. Walking in truth means to walk in the Light of His presence being delivered from darkness and blindness toward the sin in our lives. It means to walk in peace, knowing that Jesus has been given authority over all things in heaven and on earth, and victory is ours in Him.
May you be blessed in all things as you walk in Truth, God’s Beloveds.  Love, grace, mercy and peace to you and yours through Christ Jesus.
