“God is Good. Always!” Romans 2: 14-16

I am re-reading the Book of Romans for the ‘upteenth time’. What a treasure this Book is.  Of course every book and letter included in the Bible as we know it is a treasure.  The Spirit of Jesus is in the Word for those who believe that He is, (John 1:1-2), and every answer for every need is in it.  But the Book of Romans is like a great cathedral in the Bible.  It is a beautiful rendition of the truth of the Gospel, the Good News.  It clearly speaks of the love of the Father, and His grace and mercy.  It speaks of the finished work of Jesus Christ, and that while we yet sinners He gave Himself for us to set us free from sin and death, and bring us into the light.  It speaks of the Holy Spirit’s presence in our lives as His temple.  I highly recommend reading it several times because it is so full of the kindness of God.

Here is an example:  Jesus gave us a Great Commission when He returned to heaven to go into the world, and tell the Good News of what He had done for mankind. (Matthew 28:18-20)  This has been done for over two thousand years and the world has been changed because of it.  But what about those who have not heard?  Romans 2:14 – 16 tells us how our Lord will handle that.  The Lord told Paul to write:
“(Indeed when Gentiles, who do not have the law (the word), ‘do by nature’ things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law, since they show that the requirements  of the law are ‘written on their hearts’, ‘their consciences also bearing witness’, and ‘their thoughts now accusing , now even defending them’.)  This will take place on the day when God will judge men’s secrets through Jesus Christ, as my gospel declares.”
To be sure, we who believe are to be prepared to share the gospel with whomever the Lord draws to Himself, and brings to us; and those whom He has called must continue to spread the Word.  The Commission is still in place and will be until the Lord returns.  The love of God is to be shared every day in word and deed.  But, I am comforted by the fact that if someone has not heard the gospel, God has a plan for them.  God is Good.  Always!
The Blessings and Love of our Lord Jesus be upon you, and yours, God’s Beloveds.  May our Father God fill you with His Holy Spirit.  May you walk in His peace and goodness.
