“Jesus Walks on Water”, (Part 3) John 6: 16-21

The Apostle John, writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, writes of Jesus walking on water.  We have looked at the timing of this event.  Jesus had just fed over 5,000 people with 2 small fish, and 5 small loaves of bread that evening and now He is walking on water.  We have looked at the fact that He told His disciples to get into the boat and go ahead of Him, as pointed out in Matthew’s account. (Matthew 14: 22-33, and in Mark’s account (Mark 6: 45-52).  He intentionally had them on the Lake (the Sea of Galilee) without Him to set the scene for huge back to back faith building miracles for them, and us, to see.

We have discussed how Peter walked on the water -with Jesus- when Jesus told him to come to Him – as long as he kept his eyes on Jesus -and how he started sinking into the water when he let his mind get distracted by the circumstances around him.  Jesus was teaching what is ours through faith in Him.  Of how we can absolutely rise above the natural because that which is supernatural is within us.
A few more points from this scene before we move on.  Mark wrote: ” He saw the disciples straining at the oars, because the wind was against them.  Shortly before dawn He went out to them, walking on the Lake.  He was about to pass by them, but when they saw Him walking on the lake, they thought He was a ghost.  They cried out, because they all saw Him and were terrified.  Immediately He spoke to them and said, ‘Take courage!  It is I.  Don’t be afraid.’ Then He climbed into the boat with them, and the wind died down. They were completely amazed, for they had not understood about the loaves; their hearts were hardened.”  (Mark 6: 48-52)
Points: Jesus is Lord God.  He sees our needs.  He presents Himself.  He wants us to call upon Him.  He gets into the boat with us when we do call.  He calms our fears.  The circumstances, and issues yield to Him. The winds of the storm are calmed, because He is a miracle working God of Love that is over all things.
The disciples had not understood about the loaves. They still had not grasped the power and love that is His.   There was a need.  He met that need in a miraculous way.
So it is for us.  When we look to Him, we can look for the miraculous to happen.  He IS everything we have need of.
Have a wonderful day in every way, God’s Beloveds.  In Christ Jesus, you are divinely loved, greatly blessed, and highly favored.  Believe and Receive all that He is, and has for you.
