“The One who feeds on Me will live because of Me.” John 6: 57

We continue our study of the Gospel of John.  Picking up at verse 57, of Chapter 6, the Apostle, writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, recorded the words of Jesus, as He said:

“Just as the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on Me will live because of Me.   This is the bread that came down from Heaven.  Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.”  He said this while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum.  (John 6: 57-59)
When we talk of feeding on something, we think in terms of the body of flesh.   Feeding on a great meal of things we enjoy.  Meat, or vegetables, or whatever brings pleasure and nourishment to our body.   Our body of flesh is the vehicle the Lord gave us to use for various things while we are on this journey on earth.  Physical contact, a body that all can see, a body that can be used for communication, a body that can feel emotion, a body designed to be a Temple of God.  The Word says, “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? (1 Corinthians 6: 19)
So, it is important that we care for this body of flesh, feed it correctly,  and do what is best for it.  But in the scripture we look at today, the Lord is talking of feeding the Spirit body.  That body which makes us One with God when we invite Christ into our life as Lord, and are born again.
The Lord said He became flesh and lived among mankind because Father sent Him to do so.   The Scripture tells us: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…..The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us.  We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father full of grace and truth.”  (John 1:1, 1:14.)
Jesus was Spirit, and became flesh also to bring us grace and truth.  He was nourished by the Oneness with His Father, and all that is in Him..  We are a body of flesh, and become a body of Spirit as well, a child of God, when we are born again.  We are nourished in spirit as we become One with Him, and feed on His Word and His presence.  As child of man, and child of God, with a body that can transport us,  we are to carry the Good News to the world of Father’s grace, and truth, and love that flows through us from the Holy Spirit within.  And because we are born again as Spirit, and feed on and are nourished by the bread of life, Christ Jesus, our Heavenly Father, and the Holy Spirit, we, and all who believe will live forever.
While we are here in the flesh as we know it today, let us live this life full of grace and truth. Grace – that unmerited favor that is ours.  Truth – God is Love;  and has sent His one and only Son of Man, Son of God to tell it, show it, and provide the bread of life for us for today, and for all time to come.   We live because of Him.
May Blessings of perfect health, and the divine wealth of peace and prosperity in all things be yours, God’s Beloveds.  You are greatly, and unconditionally loved.?
