The Spirit testifies that Jesus is the Son of God. 1 John 5: 1-8

As we continue our walk through 1 John, we pick up once again in chapter 5.   Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the Apostle is telling us that “Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God”  – and, “Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.”  (1 John 5: 1,5).  He tells us: There are three who testify to this truth: “the Spirit, the water, and the blood.” (1 John 5:8).

We have done a study of the water, and how the Father Himself testified that Jesus was His Son when He was baptized. (Matthew 3: 16,17)  John the Baptist also testified that Jesus is the Son, the Lamb of God, at the water.  We have looked at the testimony of Jesus Himself as He declared that His blood was the seal of the new Covenant of Grace, (Matthew 26:28)  As we read the Word,  we see how the truth was given to Isaiah, and the Prophets of old, and to Paul, the great Prophet of the new Covenant of Grace, of how the blood of Jesus was poured out for us to save us from death, and to purify us and make us clean and righteous in Father’s eyes –  Of how the perfect blood of the Lamb, and our testimony defeats the accuser. (Rev 12:11)  And now we lift up the Spirit, the third one to testify.
Jesus said, “When the Counselor comes whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the father, He will testify about me. (John 15:26)  Jesus also said, “But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.”  (John 14:26)   At the Last Supper, as Jesus was preparing His Disciples for the fact that He would be leaving them soon, He promised them He would not leave them as orphans.  He told them the Spirit of Truth would come to live in them.  We see in Acts 2 the grand entrance of the Spirit: “When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.  Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.  They seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.  All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.” (Acts 2: 1-4)
The Holy Spirit comes to, and enters in, to everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ, and asks Him in to their life.  He is God within. He speaks for us, and through us to the world.  He is our teacher, and our intercessor.   He prays for us when we do not know how or what to pray. By His presence, and power, and love within, the actions He brings us to testifies that Jesus is the Son of God.
Let us praise Him for the beautiful wonderful many ways He shows us His divine and unconditional Love. Be blessed in all good things, God’s Beloveds.
