We celebrate this day because it is about an event that changed everything. Our Savior, Christ Jesus, had been killed on a cross; He was buried in a tomb, and on the third day He walked out of that tomb alive and changed forever. “The firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth.” Rev 1:5b
The Word says, “To Him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by His blood, and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve His God and Father – to Him be glory and power for ever! Amen.” Revelations 1:6
Because of what Christ Jesus did, we have been restored to who we were created to be when God, (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) made us in His image.(Genesis 1:26)
Man was lost to sin because of one man Adam, but was redeemed to His God given righteousness (our image of Him) through one man, Jesus Christ. That is because He did something we cannot do. He lived a life of perfection, and transferred that perfection to us when we He died for us on that cross. It is ours through faith in Him, and what He has done. It is ours for the asking when we believe.
Without Him being raised back to life from the dead, we would not have known for certain that we are totally justified by Him, and that His promises are true. Jesus said, “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.” (John 5:24) His appearance after death was a personal testimony that we have life after the death of this mortal body.
His resurrection from the dead takes away the question as to whether the Word is true or not, He is the living proof that it is.
As we fellowship today, in whatever setting, or wherever that may be, let there be no doubt that Jesus Lives. He defeated death for Himself, and for us. May our Easter Day be filled with happiness, love, and joy as we give thanks to the One who invites us to live life abundantly, and victoriously in Him.
